Dermoscopy

Dermoscopy is a non-invasive optical diagnostic method used for the examination of the skin and skin lesions. At the Dermatology Department of Optimum Clinic, the examination is performed using a dermatoscope by the German brand Heine Delta. This method is widely used both for the differential diagnosis of various skin diseases and for the assessment of different types of skin lesions and neoplasms.

When to see a dermatologist for a dermatoscopic examination

  • if a mole or skin lesion has been injured, bled, dried out, become scaly, or if hair growth is noticed on the lesion
  • if the lesion has changed in size, shape, borders, color, or surface
  • if the lesion is regularly traumatized by clothing or jewelry
  • if there is a family history of melanoma
  • if you have multiple moles and are frequently exposed to direct sunlight
  • if a mole was damaged after sun exposure or a new lesion has appeared

Dermoscopy provides fast, safe, and highly accurate diagnostics, allowing for dynamic monitoring, determination of further management steps, and, when removal is indicated, selection of the most appropriate treatment method.
